ARROWSMITH IN-SCHOOL

Our students tell us this program has literally changed my life” ™*

FULL-TIME/ PART-TIME IN-CLASS PROGRAMS
[AVAILABLE IN-SCHOOL OR AT-HOME]

A1 Student offers full and part time programs that help address learning difficulties.

Our cognitive exercises use neuroplasticity to change the brain. We do not use any compensatory methods, instead we address the core learning challenge.

The programs use computer, audio and written exercises to strengthen the ability to reason, use logic, and comprehend.

Our programs contain exercises for strengthening numeracy skills, reading, and visual memory using symbol patterns and face and landmark recognition.

Auditory modules improve short- and long-term  memory, phonemic memory, oral and written output and vocabulary development as well as increasing a student’s ability to hold and process information (working memory)

Word and tracing exercises improve motor skills related to writing, written communication, organization and planning. Exercises also improve executive function, and skills required for non-verbal communication.

Students enrolled in the full-time day program often find they are able to address their cognitive weaknesses within a shorter time, however part-time programs may be ideal for students whose learning is impacted by only a few (one to three) learning dysfunctions, as well as for students who may not be able to enrol in the full-time day program.

An Arrowsmith Assessment is required to indicate which cognitive areas to prioritise.

Symbol Relations ‘Clocks’ Cognitive Enhancement Program

Cognitive Intensive Program, CIP ‘6 week’ program

This is Arrowsmith’s flagship ‘Clocks’ program and it provides participants with a structured cognitive exercise program specifically aimed to enhance the Symbol Relations cognitive function.

It involves understanding and quickly grasping what is read and heard, insight, logical reasoning, seeing connections between ideas, cause and effect processing and mathematical reasoning.

Timetable will depend upon each student’s coursework and curriculum.

This program can be undertaken over a 10 month period in classs or under the Cognitive Intensive Program, it can be completed in 6 weeks, supported by a dedicated Arrowsmith trained facilitator.

The program targets Symbol Relations, a critical function that processes and understands ideas in all aspects of life necessary for understanding and quickly grasping what we read and hear, gaining insight, logical reasoning and cause and effect processing.

The Symbol Relations Program is designed to address these cognitive areas:

Not understanding what is read or said

Seeing the world as ‘black and white’

Difficulty with math or literary concepts such as fractions, metaphors
